Why You Should Join Threads Right Now

Hey Upstage Family! This week we are going to be discussing why you should be on instagram’s Threads.

Threads is a social media app born from instagram that seems similar to X (twitter). Like X, on Threads a user is able to post anywhere from 1 - 500 words on any topic. The app is about starting and engaging in conversation with other users.

If you, like myself, never clicked with X; you likely never thought to give Threads a chance. I suggest you reconsider. Digging into the algorithm and experience of Threads, I have found that the app will actually be extremely useful for musicians in a couple different ways…

1. You can easily connect with your target audience.

   • The main feed on Threads shows you users you have interacted with in the past or are most likely to interact with. (which works in your favor as a creator showing up on others’ feeds.

2. The app is fairly new, so there aren’t many big influencers right now and small creators are being highlighted.

3. Most users on there are trying to converse, follow, or even find like-minded individuals.

   • Threads could be a good way to get in touch with some playlist curators wink wink

4. There does not have to be a lot of thought behind a post, it’s just a conversation starter

5. Creating an account is easy, especially if you have an Instagram account already

6. It could be the future of social media

While it is difficult even managing one social media account as a musician, consider looking into Threads if you have not already. At the very least you could connect with some people in your field and gain a couple of followers in the app’s early days.
